QCA alumni and friends gathered at the Barbados Yacht Club on June 29, 2019, for the annual tea party. It’s the major fundraiser for the QCA Scholarship, which assists two recent Queen’s College graduates in pursuing studies at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill.
The 2019 event – dubbed Tea and Talent – was graced by the presence of Miss Universe Barbados 2018, our own Meaghan Theobalds. She presented the door prizes to the winners, including Shelly Griffith, who won the food hamper donated by Sunshine Industries.
There was lots of talent on display to entertain patrons. This talent ranged from Deanne Kennedy, with her spoken word poems and humour, to Jolie Warner, a fifth form QC student, who played the violin.
The Star Strut models brought a fashion element to the afternoon’s entertainment. The models were Tarika Birch – Queen of the Runway 2018, Reyna-Chantez Walton – Second Runner-up, and Jordan Marshall – Winner of the Fire and Ice segment 2018.
The programme ended with a rousing rendition of the School Song, a fitting close to a wonderful afternoon of tea and talent.
